This dragon shaped tea pet series comes in four distinct colors crafted from four types of original mine purple clay sourced from Huanglong Mountain in Yixing namely Purple Clay Red Clay Duan Clay and Green Clay. Each color is derived from the natural hue of the purple clay ore with no artificial pigments added.
Original Mine Purple Clay from Yixing
The original mine purple clay used to make this dragon shaped tea pet is extracted from specific ore layers of Huanglong Mountain. Formed hundreds of millions of years ago it is a rare non renewable resource. After mining the clay undergoes multiple processes including natural weathering crushing and aging. The aging process alone takes 1 to 3 years. This elaborate production method results in a tea pet with fine texture and excellent air permeability.
