Crafted from Golden Duan Clay with Green Clay Slip Finish
This three-piece Yixing purple clay gaiwan features an inner body made of premium golden duan clay, with an outer surface finished in a fine green clay slip, all fired together in a single high-temperature process. The golden duan clay’s uniform dual pore structure gently unlocks the intrinsic flavors of the tea leaves during brewing, locks in the tea’s aroma without it dissipating, and delivers an exceptionally soft, smooth mouthfeel to the tea liquor. The dense, fine green clay outer finish resists tea stain buildup for easy cleaning. With long-term use, it develops a warm, lustrous patina that complements the hand-raised slip plum blossom motif, growing richer in character with every use.
Golden Duan Clay is a premium grade of Yixing purple clay, distinguished by its more uniform dual pore structure that delivers superior heat retention and aroma-locking performance. During brewing, it gently draws out the full depth of the tea’s character, softens any bitter or astringent notes, and creates a luxuriously smooth, mellow liquor. The dense, robust clay body boasts exceptional thermal shock resistance, making it highly resistant to cracking or damage from sudden temperature changes during daily use.
Hand-Raised Slip Plum Blossom Motif
Unlike standard hand-painted designs, which are applied with pigments to the surface and are highly prone to wear and fading over time, our raised slip motif is hand-built layer by layer using natural Yixing purple clay slip. It is fired together with the gaiwan body at high temperature, fusing the motif completely with the clay body. This means the design will never fade, and will remain fully intact and three-dimensional even after decades of use.
