Differences Between Longxue Sand and Regular Zisha Clay
Longxue Sand, also widely known as Longxue Clay, is an extremely rare variety of Yixing Zisha clay and represents a premium grade of this traditional material.
Regular Zisha clay is abundant in reserves and serves as the mainstream raw material in the market with relatively low mining and production costs. In contrast, Longxue Sand is found in very thin ore veins, making it difficult to mine and extremely scarce in quantity. These factors mean it can never be mass produced, establishing it as a high-end clay that combines both practical use and collectible value.
Zisha teapots made from Longxue Sand feature a more stable pore structure and exceptional air permeability. They can better bring out the full aroma and layered flavors of tea leaves. The clay develops a richer, smoother patina at a faster rate, and after high-temperature firing, it achieves a denser texture that is highly resistant to cracking or deformation.
