Dunhuang Baoxiang Flower Ru Kiln Gaiwan
This gaiwan is available as a single piece or a two cup set. The 160ml capacity is perfect for most daily tea brewing. It does not absorb or transfer flavors, so it works well with all kinds of tea. With regular use, you can also develop a unique crackle pattern on its surface.
Unlike common overglaze printed or decal tea wares available today, this Dunhuang Baoxiang flower gaiwan is made using in-glaze color technique. Skilled artisans hand draw the Baoxiang flower design, which is then permanently bonded with the porcelain during high temperature firing. The pattern will not fade or peel off even with long term use.
The ice crackle effect of Ru kiln is a natural texture created when the glaze cools during high temperature firing. As you use the gaiwan day by day, it will slowly form beautiful crackle patterns known as golden threads and dark lines.
