This Old Rock Clay gongfu tea set comes in multiple options: an 80ml unglazed gaiwan as a single piece, plus a 60ml tea cup, 230ml fair pitcher, tea boat, and a full matching set. You can select the right one based on your daily tea drinking scenarios.
Thanks to its unique double pore structure, the Old Rock Clay will slowly develop a warm, rich patina after long-term tea brewing, and its texture will grow even more mellow and refined over time.
About Old Rock Clay
Old Rock Clay is a mineral clay made from naturally weathered primary rock minerals, a composite of kaolinite rock, quartz, feldspar, mica and other minerals. It is refined through years of natural aging and multi-stage hand washing.
Different from ordinary ceramic clay and Zisha clay which is mainly clay-based, Old Rock Clay contains rich natural mineral particles. It has a strong sandy texture and high body stability.
After being fired at a high temperature above 1200°C (2192°F), it forms a stable double pore structure, including open air pores and closed insulating pores. It is breathable yet watertight, which is the key feature that makes it perfect for tea ware and improves the tea flavor.
With no glaze applied, it shows a natural matte finish and the rustic texture of coarse stoneware. Each handmade piece has a unique grain and color.
