Raw Ore Dahongpao Zisha Clay
Dahongpao zisha clay is a classic and premium variety of zisha clay. After high-temperature firing, it presents a steady and elegant cinnabar red color.
Raw Ore Dahongpao has extremely strict requirements for craftsmanship. It is highly prone to deformation and cracking during manual shaping and high-temperature firing, with a finished product rate much lower than that of ordinary zisha clay. Precise control over the clay’s moisture, shaping techniques and kiln temperature curve is required to create pieces with regular shapes and even color development, which is one of the reasons for its higher value.
It features a unique dual porous structure that gently absorbs the aroma, taste and tea infusion while brewing tea. After long-term use, it will gradually form a smooth and mellow patina, and its color will slowly transition from the original cinnabar red to a deep date red or dark red.
We recommend using this gaiwan for only one type of tea on a long-term basis. If you frequently switch between different types of tea, such as brewing pu-erh one day and green tea the next, the aromas and flavors of different teas will mix in the clay body, which will eventually cause flavor cross-contamination in the tea soup.
