Material and Craftsmanship
This water storage tea tray is semi-handcrafted from authentic Yixing Zhuni purple clay and fired at a high temperature above 1150°C. It has a dense and warm texture with a delicate touch, durable and resistant to cracking or deformation. The natural gentle texture of Zhuni will gradually develop a soft luster with use, becoming more aesthetically pleasing over time.
Semi-handcrafted production does not mean little human involvement. Molds only serve as an auxiliary tool for shaping, while all key steps still depend entirely on the experience and skills of the pottery master. From kneading and cutting the Zhuni clay, shaping the clay sheets with molds, to hand finishing the tray surface and edges, every step requires the craftsman to accurately control the strength and curvature.
Core Advantages of the Zhuni Purple Clay Water Storage Tea Tray
- Compared with wooden tea trays: Zhuni material is moisture-proof and tea-soak resistant. It will not become damp, deform, grow mold or crack due to long-term contact with tea infusion, offering a longer service life and requiring no frequent anti-crack maintenance.
- Compared with ordinary ceramic tea trays: It features an integrated water storage and drainage design, eliminating the need for an additional water tray and making use more convenient. Meanwhile, Zhuni has a warm and soft texture, unlike the cold and stiff feel of ordinary ceramics.
- Compared with metal tea trays: The surface is fine and smooth, which will not scratch the bottoms of teapots or teacups. It carries no metallic odor that would interfere with tea aroma and the brewing experience, ensuring safer use.
- Compared with non-porous tea trays: The central drainage hole can quickly drain tea infusion. The 350ml water storage capacity fully meets daily tea brewing needs, with no frequent wiping or emptying of waste water required.
